RHS Chelsea Preview Speakers: Ann-Marie Powell

Join us at our RHS Chelsea Preview on Friday 19 April where garden designer Ann-Marie Powell will be talking about plans for her show garden at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Ann-Marie is collaborating with sponsors Blue Diamond Garden Centres and the National Trust with a show garden which pays homage to Octavia Hill the visionary co-founder of the National Trust, emphasising her belief in the significance of green spaces and gardens in enriching the lives of all.

The urban community wildlife garden echoes the belief that Octavia Hill, were she alive today, would persist in her efforts to provide urban communities with access to nature. Research consistently highlights the vital role of green spaces in promoting both physical and mental well-being.

In honouring Hill’s enduring legacy, the garden aspires to ignite a passion for inventive green spaces that foster a deep connection between people and the intricate wonders of the natural world.

The design approach is a showcase for sustainability and climate change resilience, with peat-free plants, reclaimed materials and low-carbon build techniques. The design also aims to illustrate that urban brownfield sites can be reclaimed to create beautiful, biodiverse environments with huge wellbeing benefits.
